You know how the best stories of true love all start out: she was on a dating app, and he was also on a dating app. It was love in the time of e-mail — and anything was possible. 

No, they didn’t know what they were getting into on that sunny Saturday in September of 2018. But time, food, dancing, and all the other things that are best when shared, transformed the connection they had into the couple you know today. 

Also, there was a pandemic in there somewhere. When you actually grow closer to somebody despite them being the only person you can be around, you know you’re onto something.

From there, things kept getting more serious. They moved in together. Michael became the dad that stepped up and helped take care of Joie’s adult daughter, Ruthie. Joie let Michael expand her pop culture references beyond Spongebob Squarepants and Charles M. Schultz’ Peanuts. One thing stayed the same: they kept propelling each other forward, making each other the best version of themselves every step of the way.
